Advanced Beauty Systems Names Matt Smith VP of Marketing

Worked with Snapple, Dr. Pepper brand strategies

Advanced Beauty Systems, Inc., a marketer of bath, hair and skin care products, tapped Matt Smith as vice president of marketing, a newly-created position. According to the company, Mr. Smith will develop and manage all aspects of marketing and sales including strategy, innovation, brand development and business development.

“Matt’s impressive track record, along with his enthusiasm for business challenges and team-based success, makes him a perfect fit to lead Advanced Beauty System’s marketing and sales efforts,” said Chris McClain, president of Advanced Beauty Systems. “As we continue to expand at an unprecedented rate, we look forward to Matt taking our brands to new heights.”

Mr. Smith joins Advanced Beauty Systems from Dr Pepper Snapple Group, the third largest beverage company in North America, where he most recently served as a director of brand marketing for the company’s 7UP, Sunkist, Canada Dry and A&W brands. In that position, he was responsible for developing brand strategy and vision, along with leading the development of all brand marketing activation and innovation. Mr. Smith also served in key roles managing Diet Dr Pepper, Hawaiian Punch and other brands. He also has global marketing experience with Mattel, Inc. and WHAM-O, Inc.

A native of Chicago, Mr. Smith received a bachelor’s degree in mass communications from The University of Illinois at Chicago and a master’s of business administration degree from Pepperdine University.
